The Governors’ wedding & Honeymoon Safari 

 

This classic African safari in Kenya is a perfect for honeymooners or couples looking to get married in an exotic location. Featuring short, one-hour flights from park to park to maximize time spent on safari, this itinerary is slow-paced so as to allow for some romance and relaxation while offering a highlight of the best of Kenya, both the Great Rift Valley and lakes region and the world-famous Masai Mara game reserve. By adding on a few nights at the Indian Ocean’s coastal Swahili fishing village area of Lamu Island, this romantic journey is complete.

Kenya’s Rift Valley lakes are both fascinating and beautiful, blessed by stunning landscapes, myriad colorful bird life and a remarkable diversity of activities. Loldia farmhouse is the perfect base for exploration of the Rift Valley offering information accommodations in guest-house style with superb cuisine and a very personal service. 

Governors’ Camps are situated in the very heart of Kenya’s Masai Mara game reserve, one of the world’s most remarkable wildlife havens and the northern tip of the Serengeti ecosystem. One of the original permanent luxury camps in the Mara, Governors’ camps retain their traditional “African” style and high standards of service and cuisine. Sumptuous meals are cooked and served under the shade of trees overlooking the Mara River.

Additionally, Ultimate African Safaris arranges personalized, classically African wedding ceremonies. What more memorable way for a couple to wed than under the warm African sun in the middle of the Kenyan bush! The wedding-planning service includes organizing of all necessary papers and wedding licenses in Nairobi, arranging the marriage registrar, flowers and music for the ceremony, professional photographer/ videographer if required, wedding cake and private wedding meal for the wedding party. 

Note: couples must spend two working days in Nairobi to secure the official marriage paperwork and must be in Kenya a total of four days prior to the wedding service.

 

Day 1: Lake Naivasha (L,D)

The tour starts from Nairobi. Pick up from NBO airport or a Nairobi city location and transfer to Wilson airport for afternoon scheduled flight to picturesque Lake Naivasha. Spend the next two nights at Loldia farm house situated on the Northern shores of the lake with breathtaking views of the mountains beyond. 

 

 

Enjoy the relaxed and friendly atmosphere with the emphasis on “feeling at home”, setting your own pace and choosing your own activities.

 

 

Day 2: Lake Naivasha (B,L,D)

Take an early morning boat trip on the lake with picnic breakfast. Accompanied walks can be taken on the ranch where plains game run free. Other activities include excursions into Hell’s Gate with its hot geysers, a visit to the mysterious Crater Lake to see Colobus monkeys, boat trips and fishing on the lake or a visit to Joy Adamson’s “Elsamere” conservation center.  After dinner a night game drive can be arranged to view the nocturnal animals.

Day 3: Masai Mara (B,L,D)

Morning choice of activities at Loldia. Lunch and afternoon scheduled flight directly to the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most spectacular game reserve. 

 

 

Spend the next three nights at one of the Governor’s camps.

 

Day 4 and 5: Masai Mara (B,L,D)

Two full days in the Masai Mara, viewing game in 4WD Landrovers. The Masai Mara is well known for the “Big Five” including lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino and leopard as well as the vast herds of wildebeest and zebra that roam the grassy plains. 

 

 

Equally as captivating are the smaller species such as cheetah, jackal, warthog, dikdik and hyena. Hippo and crocodile can be found lazing along the river banks while birdwatchers will revel in the diversity and color of the bird life. 

 

 

On either day 4 or 5 is the day to arrange the wedding! Choose a morning, afternoon or evening ceremony and Express Travel Group is happy to work closely with you to customize the ceremony and experience to fit the couple’s unique wishes.

Day 6: Depart (B,L)

Morning game viewing and lunch at Governors’ camp. Afternoon flight back to Nairobi, and transfer to hotel or NBO airport.

Lamu Island Coast Extension:


 

After a week on safari and a wedding ceremony of their dreams, many couples choose to spend a few days at the Indian Ocean coast before heading home… 

 


Kipungani Explorer Lamu is nestled amongst palm trees overlooking a secluded stretch of beach on the far side of Lamu Island, twenty minutes by speedboat from the airstrip. This is a romantic, eco-friendly lodge offering a barefoot luxury experience. The 15 beach cottages are well spaced for complete privacy and built entirely of local materials, such as palm leaf matting and Mangrove poles. Each cottage is open to the sea breezes with a large verandah, king-sides bed and bathroom at the back.
